The annual Denver Startup Week Startup Crawl features local startups & their offices. This year 18 companies are opening their doors to the DSW community to come check out the spaces, meet their teams, and yes, have a refreshment or two. The end of the crawl culminates with the party where the most active participants will have a chance to win prizes!
In previous years, the Startup Crawl featured paper maps with “passports” that participants used to record each location they visited. Skookum hasn’t met a paper process yet that we didn’t want to digitize so we approached Built In Colorado to create a an online experience for this year’s crawl. For those planning on participating in the crawl, visit this link on your mobile device. https://crawl.skookum.com/
While Skookum often leverages beacon technology for client projects, for the Startup Crawl we used a mobile optimized website to leverage the phone’s location services. This simplifies how we can digitally check users in at Startup Crawl locations!
Created as a team effort (I spied both designers and products strategists pushing code!), we set out to create an mobile application that would:
- Map all the participating locations
- Provide information about each company
- Advertise any hiring opportunities
- Check crawlers in at each location
- Submit entries for the participants that visited 7 or more stops.
So if you see a Skookumite out today in a T-shirt like this, let us know what you think!
