South by Southwest. When musicians, filmakers, advertising folks, and technology visionaries annually flock to Austin, TX to re-spawn, re-energize, and re-invent their chosen professional/cultural/hobby-al fields.
Proudly, Skookum has been invited to host not one but TWO interactive programming workshops at the 2013 SXSW. Granted I'm biased, but this is a pretty big deal, and we are insanely psyched to get down to the Lonestar state, flex our tech muscles, and melt some faces. Being sponge-like students in our own right, you'll also catch us clamboring up the walls at other events across the week to have our faces melted, as well.
2013 SXSW Interactive Workshops by the SDW
Forget Native: Learn to Write HTML5 Apps (#sxsw / #html5apps)
Sunday, March 10th, 11am-1:30pm
by our very own David Becher. In addition to training and creating their first, basic HTML5 mobile application, attendees will also learn about marketing and delivery options for non-native applications.
Node.js & You: Learn to Write the Real-Time Web (#sxsw / #nodejs)
Sunday, March 10th, 3:30pm-6:00pm
by our very own Jim Snodgrass. This workshop is a hands-on experience with attendees learning from one of the best (and possibly, only) Node.js shops in the country, Skookum that's us!. Attendees will learn the basics of the Node.js development and deployment environment and both create and deploy their first "Hello World" application.
See You at the 2013 SXSW Interactive Conference
Props to the SXSW organizers for inviting SDW to share our team's insight. And major round of applause for the hard work and hard-won-expertise that enables our software developers to impart this type of open-source-meets-enterprise knowledge to the world. I know there'll be a lot to see/do in Austin this March, but my "Sunday the 10th" is dedicated to SDW. Hope to see y'all there, too.
